Mental Health For Global Workers: Does it really matter?
In 2020, approximately 100 million people worldwide were affected by disaster events. In the case of disasters, vulnerable groups can be under great stress, can face major challenges and may develop mental disorders. Nearly one-third of disaster affected people may experience burdensome mental health consequences. - wmhdofficial.com
This World Mental Health Day, we’d like to shine a spotlight on the clients and partners we work with serving in compassion driven roles both at home and abroad.
The global workers and volunteers we support believe passionately in what they do, but this also opens the door to working unsustainable hours and giving everything to their role.
Burnout and stress are two of the most reported issues we see as it becomes increasingly difficult for workers to keep healthy work/life boundaries and take much-needed time to rest. It has also been widely reported that mental illness is one of the most common reasons that people leave a role early.
We believe that the mental health of global workers really does matter, not only for helping workers continue in a role but to thrive.
Having the appropriate support in place will also lead to increased employee productivity, reduced absenteeism and turnover, improved job satisfaction and enhanced overall employee well-being and engagement.
We’re committed to ensuring workers have access to the best possible care at every stage of their journey, whether it be before, during or after a job role or assignment.
